Good day/afternoon or night Brothers and Sisters. The WPFFA has been moving this membership forward in a positve direction. We have had a couple of arbitration dates for Brother Dow and we are waiting on a ruling from Brian Etherington dealing with a proceedural issue. We hope to have the ruling by the end of January. We have a date coming up with Brother McCracken in January dealing with his termination. We continue to support these two members through this very tough process.
We have had to deal with benefits for Brother Tim P, we managed to come to an agreement that his family will receive active benefits until Tim's 30 year mark.
We have been working on our benefit plan, the Ford Government has de-listed over 80 items from OHIP. Our Greenshield plan for out of country coverage was a second payer, meaning OHIP paid the first $400.00 then Greenshield would take care of the rest. With the Goverment erasing the $400.00 the potential was there to not be covered. We have been working on this issue for the last few months and we were notified that Greenshield would pay from the first dollar. We are now covered for out of country coverage with the change in our plan.
A letter has been sent to start negotiations with the City. We have finalized the benefits to age 75. New booklets are being made and will be on the Greenshield website soon. We are still in disagreement with the intent and interpretation of the PRB's for life. We will have to let an Arbitrator rule on this. In the letter to the City this was stated and we asked to start negotiations and the ruling from the Arbitrator will be put into the Collective Agreement.
R2MR will be starting in January. Take care of yourself, take care of your family and take care of each other. We have to allow ourselves to seek help and ask for help.
We have moved our banking over to Comtech Fire Services Credit Union out of Toronto. This Credit Union is the official financial institution of the IAFF and the OPFFA. We are the 42nd Association to join with them. This Credit Union understands how our Association works and has many benefits including a higher rate of return on our money.
Memorial is set for next April 26/20. This has been a group effort and we are preparing for the Grand Opening. Hope you can all make it.
We would like to congratulate all the 2019 Retirees. It has been a pleasure to work with each and every one of you. We wish you many happy years of retirement.
We would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thank you, Tracker
